The United Nations has designated the first Monday in October each year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic of all right to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.

Obama Administration launches US Honorary Committee for World Habitat Day
Washington, DC - 23/06/2009

As part of the intensive preparations preceding this year’s World Habitat Day celebrations, the United States Housing Secretary Shaun Donovan and UN-HABITAT Executive Director Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka convened a dinner of the US Honorary Committee at the Arts Club of Washington.
