At a three-day conference on the theme, Making Slums History; A Global Challenge for 2020, officials sought to develop specific recommendations and guidelines for slum improvement, sharing and broadening the scope of experiences as well as devising a strategy for revising the slum target of the Millennium Development Goals.

Nairobi 9 October 2012 -- In partnership with UN-Habitat, the government of Morocco has announced that it will host an international conference on improving the lives of slum dwellers titled Making Slums History: A Worldwide Challenge for 2020 in Rabat from 26 to 29 November 2012. Some three to four hundred participants are expected to attend, including about 40 government ministers, heads of delegations and representatives of local authorities and civil society.
