UN-HABITAT in collaboration with the University of Westminster drew some 60 delegates to the first global workshop of the Habitat Partner University Initiative from 16 - 18 May 2011. They discussed the future of the initiative for which UN-HABITAT sought to ensure a sustainable plan, based on the needs and interests of universities. Participants came from Africa and Arab States (7), Asia and the Pacific (8), Europe (32), Latin America and the Caribbean (5) and North America (4). They discussed the focus of the Habitat Partner University Initiative. In working groups concrete ideas were developed on education, professional development, research and policy advice. They agreed on the elements of a charter and terms of reference for the initiative.
