Nairobi, 15 Jun 12

September 5, 16:30 – 19:00

This year's research’s roundtable will focus on the broader challenges of urban research and how to address emerging issues through internationally coordinated, anticipated research, that ensures results are mainstreamed into relevant practice and university curricula in a timely matter. In particular the roundtable will examine a recently completed, UN-Habitat-commissioned feasibility study on the creation of a Global Urban Research Umbrella, which would serve as an online organizing hub and international clearinghouse for research on urban issues. Drs. Kosta Mathéy and Peter Gotsch, who carried out the feasibility study, will be presenting their results. The overall objective of the Global Urban Research Umbrella is to enable universities and tertiary institutions to conduct needed research in collaboration with one another and to provide results in a manner that can be better utilized by local governments and urban practitioners, and mainstreamed into university curricula.
