The European chapter of the Global Parliamentarians on Habitat has announced plans to participate at the UN-HABITAT World Urban Forum in Barcelona in September.At a meeting in Brussels 12 May, the President of Global Parliamentarians on Habitat, Peter Götz of Germany, said the European group had voted to participate in the forum following an invitation from UN-HABITAT Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka. They declared their readiness to become dialogue partners, and help draw attention to the problems of urban development, particularly from the viewpoint of national parliaments. In a related development, they nominated the Romanian Member of Parliament, Radu Liviu Bara, who reported on World Habitat Day in Rio de Janeiro in 2003, as their representative at World Habitat Day in Nairobi in October 2004.
