UN-HABITAT’s Training and Capacity Building Branch (TCBB) produces a wide range of manuals and handbooks on urban governance, local government and urban management with local partners in many countries and languages around the world. The latest publication announced this month is a Georgian-language training manual produced by the agency’s Tbilisi-based NGO partner, Civitas Georgica, on the UN-HABITAT series Building Bridges between Citizens and Local Government. Other languages in which various TCBB manuals have appeared include English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Albanian, Amharic, Czech, Hindi, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Serb, Slovakian, Swahili and Telugu. Like most of these manuals, the Georgian version, is specially adapted to the Georgian reality and context for national training and capacity building. It is aimed at local government and other concerned partners. The Georgian initiative is funded by the Local Government Public Sector Reform Initiative of the Open Society Institute through the Foundation Partners for Local Development of Romania. The same series has also been produced in Italian. The generic English version of the UN-HABITAT’s Building Bridges series can been found at the website of the Training and Capacity Building Branch |
