The 20th session of the Governing Council of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, (UN-HABITAT) was held from 4 to 8 April 2005. The meeting took place at UN-HABITAT headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The session focused on the main themes of: - Involvement of civil society in improving local governance; and
- Post-conflict, natural and man-made disasters assessment and reconstruction.
- Implementing and monitoring the goal of the United Nations Millennium Declaration on improving the lives of slum dwellers.
