Title: Regional Capacity Building Workshop / Training Programme Start Date: 27 November 2006 End Date: 8 December 2006 Location: India; Nepal; Lao PDR; Vietnam and People’s Republic of China. UN-HABITAT in cooperation with Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Singapore Utilities International Pvt. Ltd (SUI) has planned a regional capacity building programme on “Continuous Water Supply in Asian Cities” for senior policy makers and officials from water utilities and urban local bodies of the participating countries under Water for Asian Cities Programme viz. Madhya Pradesh, India; Nepal; Lao PDR; Vietnam and PR China. The core objectives of the programme will be: To provide a comprehensive perspective on the transformation required to achieve the continuous water supply through an integration of technical, financial, institutional, social and communication aspects. - To acquaint participants with innovative technologies in the areas of leak detection, water demand management, water conservation etc.
- To provide a platform for active exchange of national and international good practices in water management.
- To enable the participants to formulate a strategic action plan to achieve and implement the vision of 24/7 water supply.
The programme has been designed in two-phases, keeping in view the objectives of the programme with a special focus on water demand management. Phase I of the programme is scheduled for one-week from 27th November to 1st December 2006 at ASCI Hyderabad, India followed by Phase II of the programme for one-week from 4th December to 8th December 2006 in SUI, Singapore. |
