The International Recovery Platform, the Asian Disaster Reduction Center, the Government of Japan, the Hyogo Prefectural Government and UN partners are organising an International Forum to discuss the progress in the implementation of the Hyogo Framework of Action from the 2004 Tsunami and the 2005 Pakistan Earthquake. The forum will be held 15-16 January 2007 in Kobe, Japan. As part of the Forum, UN-HABITAT was requested by the IRP to organize and facilitate a thematic session on housing related responses, and share its experiences in Tsunami affected countries and Pakistan after the Earthquake. The ‘Housing’ working session will discuss post-Tsunami lessons learned and the Pakistan experience with a range of practitioners; the objective will be determining how to apply the lessons in order to enhance sustainability and permanence in future housing recovery operations. |
