UN-HABITAT  Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka on Wednesday received the new Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the agency, Ms. Maria Rosario Janolo.

Mrs. Tibaijuka briefed the envoy on the activities of UN-HABITAT in the Philippines and expressed appreciation to the country for its continued support to the organization. She recalled that in 2006, the Talisay Rivers for Environmental and Economic Sustainability, of the Philippines, had won the Dubai International Award for best practices to improve the living environment. The organized by UN-HABITAT and the Dubai Municipality, cited the Talisay Rivers project as a model Community-based resource management project that prevents soil erosion and encroachment into periphery land, and reduces flood risks.
