Objectives The major developmental objectives of LV-LED are - promote balanced territorial development in the Lake Victoria basin through enhanced rural-urban linkages,
- alleviate poverty through the promotion of employment and other income-generating activities, notably through joint pilot projects,
- reduce the rate of rural-to-urban migration in the region and
- improve basic urban infrastructure, including in secondary towns, also as a means to contribute to the achievement of Millennium Development Goals.
