The United Nations has welcomed its 3 millionth visitor to its Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Pavilion, Dr. Awni Behnam, greeted the surprised visitor at the main entrance the pavilion and presented her with a return ticket to New York City, home of United Nations headquarters.
“It is such a great honour for me and I’m so excited.” said Ms. Tong from Zhenjiang province, who had no idea she would be the chosen guest as she queued to see the United Nations Pavilion.
Ms Tong will have the opportunity to visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York and to meet with staff there to learn more about their work in China and around the world.
Dr. Awni Behnam welcomed her to the Pavilion and said that he hoped she would also attend United Nations Pavilion Honour Day celebration on Sunday 24 October.
