In early May 2009, Tropical Depression “Dante” caused severe damage in Sorsogon City and its environs, including loss of live. 2000 houses were damaged, two bridges (one critically connecting Sorsogon with the rest of Luzon Island) destroyed and in some parts of Sorsogon rice crops were also destroyed.
