	London, 8 Feb 10 UN-HABITAT’s Executive Director, Mrs Anna Tibaijuka, said that with over half of humanity living in cities and cities already accounting for 75% of global energy consumption, urban residents are not only victims of climate change but must also be recognised as part of the solution. “Urbanisation”, she added, “brings about irreversible changes in our production and consumption patterns. How we plan, manage and live in our expanding cities determines, to a large extent, the pace of global warming.”

	Nairobi, 2 Feb 10 A partnership between UN-HABITAT and the Government of Italy will provide clean water and better sanitation facilities to over 15,000 pupils in Kenya through the construction of rainwater harvesting tanks and latrines.
