Urban plans needed for better Palestinian development
	Nablous, 29 Mar 12 UN-Habitat Executive Director Dr. Joan Clos has encouraged the Palestinian authorities to develop comprehensive urban planning so that growing cities can expand in a way which promotes economic development and provides sustainable, affordable housing for all of its people.

	Istanbul, 24 Mar 12 Taking advantage of a recent stopover in Turkey, UN-Habitat Executive Director, Dr. Joan Clos made a brief call on Istanbul’s Mayor, Mr. Kadir Topbas, who is also the President of the United Cities and Local Governments body (UCLG).


Student led Water Quality Monitoring Progamme in Mangalore, India
	Mangalore, India, 22 Mar 12 As part of the project "Promotion of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Education and Water Quality Monitoring in Mangalore City, India", water quality testing laboratories were inaugurated in two nodal schools - Jilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Katipalla, 5th block and Pejavar Aided Higher Primary School, Kalavar today to promote hands-on water education. Dr. Harmut Unger, President, BASF Social Foundation unveiled the water laboratories in the presence of senior officials of BASF, UN-Habitat, TERI, Management of the beneficiary schools and the students.

Curtains fall on historic youth meeting
	Nairobi, 21 Mar 12 A historic four day global meeting, called “Youth 21 – Building for Change”, and bringing together over 250 youth with governments, UN agencies, researchers, private sector and civil society closed in Nairobi at the weekend with the release of the Nairobi Statement, a roadmap for the greater inclusion of youth in the UN system.
