UN-HABITAT on Thursday unveiled two new initiatives to help young people in the poorer neighbourhoods of cities in the developing world get a better start in life and give the Millennium Development Goals for global poverty reduction a major boost.

UN-HABITAT’s Lebanon office last week signed special cooperation agreements with the municipalities of Tyre, Bint Jbeil and Jabal Amel providing USD 10,000 for urgently needed community projects in each of 21 towns and villages in their jurisdiction.
