Clos visits Mayor of Istanbul
	Istanbul, 24 Mar 12 Taking advantage of a recent stopover in Turkey, UN-Habitat Executive Director, Dr. Joan Clos made a brief call on Istanbul’s Mayor, Mr. Kadir Topbas, who is also the President of the United Cities and Local Governments body (UCLG).

	Nairobi, Kenya, 22 Mar 12 President Mwai Kibaki on Thursday officially opened the Fourth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (AMCHUD IV) in Nairobi.


Student led Water Quality Monitoring Progamme in Mangalore, India
	Mangalore, India, 22 Mar 12 As part of the project "Promotion of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Education and Water Quality Monitoring in Mangalore City, India", water quality testing laboratories were inaugurated in two nodal schools - Jilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Katipalla, 5th block and Pejavar Aided Higher Primary School, Kalavar today to promote hands-on water education. Dr. Harmut Unger, President, BASF Social Foundation unveiled the water laboratories in the presence of senior officials of BASF, UN-Habitat, TERI, Management of the beneficiary schools and the students.


President Kibaki officially opens AMCHUD’s fourth session
	Nairobi, 22 Mar 12 President Mwai Kibaki on Thursday officially opened the Fourth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (AMCHUD IV) in Nairobi. President Kibaki assured that his Government will step up the slum upgrading initiatives through the Kenya Slum Upgrading Programme and the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Programme.

	Nairobi, 21 Mar 12 A historic four day global meeting, called “Youth 21 – Building for Change”, and bringing together over 250 youth with governments, UN agencies, researchers, private sector and civil society closed in Nairobi at the weekend with the release of the Nairobi Statement, a roadmap for the greater inclusion of youth in the UN system.

	Nairobi, 21 Mar 12 The fourth African Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (AMCHUD) kicked off in Nairobi on Tuesday. Under the theme, Territorial planning, basic services for all and the impacts and the impacts of climate change in Africa the conference brought together participants from all over the continent as well as those from partner institutions.

	Nairobi, Kenya, 15 Mar 12 A global meeting bringing together some 300 young people from across the globe opened in Nairobi on Thursday with the United Nations Seceretary General Mr. Ban Ki Moon re-affirming his plans to appoint a special advisor on youth affairs.
