	Harare, 29 Jun 05 Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy evaluating the humanitarian aspects of the recent evictions of some 200,000 poor people in Zimbabwe, on Wednesday met President Robert Mugabe and got the green light to go wherever she liked, a UN spokesman said.


UN Special Envoy arrives in Harare
	Harare, 28 Jun 05 Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Human Settlements Issues in Zimbabwe is visiting the country this week to assess the scope and extent of the recent mass evictions, known as Operation Murambatsvina (Operation Restore Order), which according to unofficial estimates, has affected over 200,000 people.

Running out of time - Addressing the slum challenges
	Nairobi, 17 Jun 05 As the United Nations launched the Status Report on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) report, its specialized human settlements arm, UN-HABITAT said the increasing numbers of slum dwellers and lack of access to clean drinking water and sanitation continued to pose great challenges to development.


US Mayors pass resolution supporting African Development
	Chicago, 15 Jun 05 Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, attended the annual US Conference of Mayors in Chicago and called upon them to provide support to the Commission for Africa's conclusions and to join the Commissioners in calling on world leaders to act on the recommendations. She went on to emphasise to the assembled mayors from across the United States that the report highlighted the problems of rapid urbanisation in Africa, which was considered to be the second most important challenge facing Africa after the AIDS pandemic.
