New envoys from Indonesia and Bangladesh present credentials
	Nairobi, 10 Jun 08 The new Permanent Representatives of Indonesia and Bangladesh to UN-HABITAT this week presented their credentials to UN-HABITAT Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka. They are Mr. Budi Bowoleksono of Indonesia and Mr. A.K.M. Shamsuddin of Bangladesh.

Mrs. Tibaijuka decries urbanisation challenges in Africa
	Yokohama, 9 Jun 08 UN-HABITAT Executive Director Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka has decried rapid and unplanned urbanization in Africa which she said had led to unnecessary depletion, wastage and pollution of water resources. She spoke at the fourth Tokyo International Conference on African development 28-30 May. Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda pledged to double Japan’s annual net official development assistance to the African continent to USD 1.8 billion by 2012 and offer up to USD 4 billion of ODA loans to assist in developing mainly its infrastructure.


Tibaijuka commends the Government of Finland
	Nairobi, 7 Jun 08 The Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, has commended the Government of Finland for its support for the activities of the organization. Mrs. Tibaijuka made the commendation on Thursday while receiving the credentials from the new Permanent Representative of Finland to UN-HABITAT, Ms. Heli Sirve.

	Shanghai, 29 May 08 UN-HABITAT’s latest research, presented at the 7th annual Asoa-Pacific ‘City Informatization’ in Shanghai, China, shows that information and communication technology is a key driver for city growth.
