About the UN-HABITAT Youth Advisory Board

The UN-HABITAT Youth Advisory Board was established at the World Urban Forum IV held in Nanjing China on 1 and 2 November, 2008 and launched at the 22 Second Session of the UN-HABITAT Governing Council in April 2009.

  Raphael Obonyo

Raphael is the convener of The Youth Congress, a vibrant youth led initiative in Kenya that provide mostly young men and women in the urban slums and other informal settlements with a platform to enhance youth leadership and meaningful participation in socio-economic and political processes for improvement of their livelihoods and that of their community members at large.

Lucinda trained as a Landscape Architect and Urban Designer, She spent two years working in slum communities in Vietnam and Cambodia before launching CoDesign Studio. CoDesign is a non-profit, planning and design enterprise, committed to helping disadvantaged communities to envision, design and implement neighbourhood improvement projects.

John is a youth leader and peace activist. He currently runs the Global Citizens for Sustainable Development (GCSD), a not-for-profit organization based in Bangalore. GCSD focuses on youth leadership, youth empowerment, peace and culture, environment and other social development issues.

Dana is an activist from the Czech Republic, passionate about youth empowerment and international dialogue through politics, sports, and education. She holds a BA degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London in Politics and Development Studies.

Maya graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto in 2012, where she studied Business Technology Management. She currently works as a Business Technology Analyst at Deloitte Canada.

Samin studied Urban Development and obtained a masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning. She volunteered for the “Urban Upgrading and Housing Reform Program (UUHRP)”

  Francis Anyaegbu

Francis currently serves as the Founder and Director of Youth Pioneers for Development. He is a development consultant with extensive experience in creating; facilitating and managing youth led projects. He has worked with a number of local and International organisations including the British Council, World Bank Institute, Action Aid International, Earth Reformers Foundation amongst others.
