This report is as a result of the workshop on Housing and Environment that was held in Vienna on 22-23 November 1999, grouping countries of the Central and Eastern European, and the newly independent states of the former USSR in promoting the contribution of the private sector in housing delivery; and encourage the use of environmentally sound technology in construction focussing not only to the countries with economies in transition, but also elsewhere in the world.
