From 29 April to 3 May 2002, Nairobi Kenya played host to the UN-HABITAT’s opening session of the World Urban Forum. The purpose of the Forum was to strengthen and promote the implementation of the Habitat Agenda. The overall thematic focus was therefore on international cooperation in shelter and urban development. In addition, the Forum was designed to complement the Commission meetings through the facilitation of exchange of information and experiences and the advancement of collective knowledge among cities and other development partners.
