The real estate credit system used in Brazil for residential housing (known as the Housing Finance System-SFH), was created in 1964. Previously, there was no organized system for housing financing in Brazil. Its structure has changed since then (1964-2009), on matters of formal guarantees, limits and definition of the adjustment of payments.
