Another eye opener on participatory planning from UN-HABITAT. A must read for all stakeholders.

The failure of most planning practices in developing countries is due to lesser recognition given to the informal sector of the urban economy. In most developing countries informal sector of the economy contributes most to the urban economy while most of our planning models originating from the developed countries concentrate mostly on the formal sector of the urban economy, thereby making the models not practicable in developing countries. This new technique will make planning more practicable.
